Home sweet home. I have arrived back in Edinburgh safe and sound after 6 months on the road, the most amazing trip of my life.
I survived, manic Egyptian traffic, an overcrowded Sudanese ferry, dodgy Ethiopian wiring, (terrible facial hair in Kenya? Ed), 10+ hour journeys on corrugated roads, a shattered windscreen, temperatures of 46 C in Wadi Halfa, a Zimbabwean haircut, Great White sharks in South Africa, getting stuck in the sand at lion infested Kgalagadi, dodging riots in Malawi, sand storms at Sossusvlei, raging rhino at Etosha and capsizing in the Orange river.
I have a head full of memories;
The old Cairo museum, still there in the new Egypt.
Elephants in the camp at South Luangwa.
Rogan getting fined in Tanzania for “driving without shoes”.
Playing 'hide the sausage' with the Botswana police.
The lunar eclipse in Ethiopia.
Meeting “Mishaya” the silverback.
The epic task of posting a birthday card in Malawi.
The camera searches in Sudan and Glens New York pictures saving the day.
Lions in the road at Lake Nakuru.
Fireball sunsets in the Serengeti.
Pyramids at Meroe.
Camping amongst the Baobab trees.
Watching the lions hunt at Antelope Park.
The Himba village at Kanoejo.
Whale sharks, great whites and breaching humpbacks.
Meeting Sipho, prisoner #78/86 at Robben island.
Lunch at the 'dead cow café'.
Cheetahs at Mata Mata.
and many, many more.............
Many thanks to all my travelling companions for your camaraderie and laughs. It just wouldn't have been the same without you.
Bon voyage..............it certainly was. A dream fulfilled.
